Today Oliver's ANC was 1060 slightly up from last week but not high enough to resume full strength chemo pills.  He will stay on 50% methotrexate and mercapturine until his ANC gets above 1500.  Results also came back from his enzyme study, no abnormalities to report but we did learn the cause of his low ANC counts was due to low IGG levels.  He will need to start receiving monthly  IV transfusions of IGG.  These transfusions take 4-5 hours and are very similar to a blood or platelet transfusion.  We do not know how long he will need these.  It really is up to his body to tell us when it can produce IGG on its' own.  It is thought the harsh chemo in February on his young immune system created these issues.  Will keep you posted on how his first IGG transfusion goes and spinal at his next visit in two weeks (going to be an extremely long day!).

On another note, Oliver will be testing for his orange belt headband this Thursday and starting kindergarten August 23rd (barring any low counts of course).  He is adjusting very well to precocious Elise who wants to play with everything but her own toys.  Love age five...he comes up with the funniest sayings - we were playing a game the other night and he says "mommy, this game requires great strategy and skill" another one of his favorites is "you took the words right out of my mouth".  Too cute, just love this age.
